R19 calendar 2003

Regional meetings - 1st Sunday of each month, 12 mid-day onwards, at the Bird in Hand, Bath Road, Knowl Hill, on the A4 between Maidenhead and Reading.

We meet on the first Sunday of the month, in the Bird in Hand, just off the A4. A private room is set aside for us to the left of the main bar, but you are just as likely to find Members out at the front of the building enjoying the cars, particularly on a fine, sunny day.

The Pub has an excellent restaurant attached, and bar snacks or full Sunday roasts are available from the bar for those favouring less formal eating arrangements.
Monthly meetings are informal, with everyone contributing to the general discussion. New Members are welcomed by Regional Organiser, Tim Cheadle, and introduced to ' regulars' .

Do I need to pre book for the Basildon Park Concours or can I just turn up on the day ?

Tickets for the event will be sent out in May OR you can just turn up on the gate.
Last year we had 150 cars...................

It was last years event that really pushed me into making sure I had something to show this year.

I' ve recently bought a 1988 3.2 Carrera Sport Coupe and I' d like some tips, from people to know, as to what I should concentrate on to bring her back to being a really " top notch" car.

I' ll also be doing the R17 show down at Cadnam. They make good days out for the rest of the family as well.

I imagine you will have us 964ers there again this year, its a great event in lovely surroundings with shiny Porsches.
Pic from last years proceedings

Hi Elliot,
Ken and Alex tell me that the 964 Register has been invited to the R16/14 Concours this year at Bowood, Wilts. No invite from R19 yet, so I think we will be off to Wilts.

PORSCHE CLUB GREAT BRITAIN "" THAMES VALLEY REGION
ANNUAL REGIONAL CONCOURS
Event Sponsored by AFN Porsche Reading

Sunday 1st June 2003
Basildon Park, Nr Pangbourne

The annual Concours is one of the main events in the Thames Valley regional calendar. This year we are returning again to Basildon Park, a delightful National Trust property surrounded by extensive parklands. Built in the Palladian style, the house has been restored and contains quality pictures and furnishings. The Concours is being held on the lawn in front of the house, providing an idyllic backdrop against which to display the cars. Non competing Porsches will have their own special car park immediately behind the Concours cars (non Porsches must park in the public car park). Facilities for spectators include "" tour of the house and grounds, excellent tea room and gift shop.

Competitors "" There will be five main classes assessed by a team of judges following the guidelines laid down for the street Concours (no need to clean underneath). This year's concours welcomes the early 911, 964. The classes that they are eligible to enter are 4 and 5. All entrants may be considered for the competitors' favourite, which is voted for by all taking part.

Other attractions "" AFN Porsche Reading will bring a display of cars plus lots of goodies for sale and discounted stock. An excellent display of early 911s.

Time scale "" 09:30 onwards site open for Concours cars. Spectators may arrive at any time. 11:30 judging commences. 15:00 presentation of prizes.

Cost - £5 per head (£2 for children) all inclusive. Members wishing to visit the interior of the house should show their ticket at the official ticket office to obtain a free entry pass.
