R2 are holding a charity fundraiser in Aberdeen on 25th of August to support UCAN (https://www.ucanaberdeen.com/), a local cancer charity which has been very active in delivering improvements in awareness, treatment and support of patients diagnosed with a Urological Cancer. They have funded new equipment and training for treatments and operate a support centre for patients, and their families, in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Full details, and the event registration form, can be found here:

One of the aims of the event is to encourage as many members as possible to come along, and to bring family members who may not regularly engage with the club. By assembling a display with as many Porsche models as we can muster, we hope to make this an interesting day out for all. As well as the mainstream models, we are keen to display models that are rarely seen in the wild, especially here in the NE of Scotland, e.g. models from the 19xxs and rare variants/editions, e.g. RS, Spyder, Dakar etc.

The cars do not have to be "show queens", this is NOT a concours event. As well as examples of volume production models, we are anxious to display any Porsche with an interesting spec or history. If you would be willing to display your car(s), please submit details here https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfjiWKmDyBFDR8Fk0WtDgyXvQhvviyv7MHYaxLUMPRWR52dww/viewform.
Similarly if you know someone with an interesting Porsche, let them know that we could be interested in including it in the display.

NOTE, available display space means that applications may have to be curated to ensure that as many models as possible are included plus variants, special editions and cars with an interesting history (owned by someone famous, competition history, travelled across a continent, etc).

Even if you cannot attend, you can help us support this important charity by donating via the R2 Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/page/hamish-annand-1718702873748 or by scanning this QR code:

Revised QR code added 2 July. Old code was giving "Page Not Found"

Just an update on our R2 Charity Event fundraising. Although the event is still 6-1/2 weeks away, we have already raised £430 via Just Giving. Thanks to those who have already donated.

The amount shown does not include the Gift Aid that will be claimed from HMRC for those UK taxpayers who elected to add Gift Aid to their Just Giving donation (Just Giving handles recovering this money direct from HMRC to the charity).

Further early donations would be great, especially if you are unable to attend on the day. If you prefer a direct web link rather than the QR code in the previous message, this is it:

Just a note for those not familiar with Just Giving, the platform will ask for a "tip" to cover platform costs. These tips are NOT deducted from the donation amount, but will be added to the amount taken on your card. The amount can be adjusted by a slider but this will stop short of zero, the stop amount seems to vary with donation size. Below the slider, there is a link to manually change the amount. of the tip. This will advise that they need a minimum of £1.50 per transaction to cover platform costs. Please allow at least this amount to be taken on top of the donation. Our charity, UCAN, recommends using Just Giving because it reduces the administration overhead that they would otherwise need.

Thanks,
Ian
