As numbers are down a bit, I've posted the list of R21 karting events here:

http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=428662

If anyone is interested in joining us for one or more of the events, please get in touch with me.

OK guys, time to put your money where your mouth is. Having agreed to 'organise' some kating events, see below the fruits of my labour - with grateful thanks to Ashley Miller of R21. There's still space available, so I'll try to get to the meet on Sunday to drum up some support. I'd certainly like to enter a team for the August 8th event from R19; I'm up for it.

I'm certainly up for as many as I can make - how about you lot?

See you there

Hi Lawrence

Good effort but I don't think the chanpionship stuff is a good idea for a numpty like me and I can't make the Feb 20th meet.

The inter region thing sounds like a laugh though. You and me makes two (as long as you are comfortable with the idea of defeat). Two more anyone?

Cheers

James

Don't worry too much about the standard, I'm truly rubbish. Some of the guys are really good, and competitive, but are of a standard where they can easily drive around beginners.

I'd suggest you'd have needed to be in a kart once before venturing out, I did a couple of hours at Rye House with an instructor for £100 and it cut about 8-10 secs per lap off my time. Over a 42-45 second lap that's a lot. Then, it's easy to keep on a line and the faster drivers can pass without any problems.

A lot of people only do a few of the events each year, I guess about 10-12 are hard-core regulars. The championship is only going to be won by one of the really good drivers, but it's counted as your best 6 results over the year so doesn't penalise you for missing some.

Well, I've done a number of races - though mainly in 2 strokes which are a lot faster - but I'm no hero - best described as 'adequate'. We should certainly try to enter the August team event - that'll be James and I and who else? Karting experience preferred!
