Well, where do I start? As perhaps one of the last dial-up users I don't like Flash driven front ends as they take too long to load. I almost gave up.
Once in it is a very tidy and entertaining site, although not exactly in the style/format that I would have expected a PCGB related web site.
I didn't come across many pictures, but then didn't look too hard. This can be an advantage for dial-up.
I found the military/world domination style quite amusing, and perhaps in keeping with the Action Man style of the site, but again I'm not sure how this would sit with PCGB and Porsche AG.
On the whole a very pleasing experience, it made me smile. [:)]

You did ask!

[FONT=arial"][FONT=arial"]Hi John - Thanks for the response.

Sorry about the load up time with flash. If you view with broadband it's no problem, but I do understand the issues with dial up. It's just easier for me as a non-expert with little time, to update the site quickly every couple of hours/days this way, and I can do it easily from anywhere there is a PC.

The site is designed to be a fun social diary so reports and lots of photo's relating to our activities are the order of the day. We agreed some parameters with PCGB when being granted permission for the site so for example you will not see any advertising or re-direct links to commercial sites.

We are using the website as a way to attract more members in our region to participate in the club as well as trying to attract more people into PCGB as a whole, which is why we have a link button to the national site on our welcome page.

I'm glad you appreciated the site. We are a fun region and will continue to promote R24 and PCGB in a positive manner.

Thanks for looking and I welcome your comments. Good luck getting onto Broadband it makes a world of difference.

Cheers.

Steve (The Webster)

Doesn't open on my browser at all (I use Avant, which is only a shell for IE) so maybe it doesn't work for others running Opera, Firefox, Netscape etc.?

I just tried using Opera and no problem to view the R24 site.

Please note that as John points out above, the R24 web site doesn't follow the PCGB look and feel, so at some point will have to be reworked to do so. We didnt want to hold up the go live by requesting a redesign right away, and in fact, we have not yet redeveloped the main Club website to be CI conforming.

We applaud the initiative and enthusiasm of the R24 team!

For any other regions or registers developing web sites though, we would expect them to follow the CI look and feel, so as to convey the new PCGB family approach.

Instant. (broadband) Like the layout/colour.[;)]
To be honest the military ding dong dell is a bit off putting. My opinion only.

On the subject of websites. When I have posted (on here) why can I not go 'back' on here anymore. I have to close and bring up the page again? Is this just me, it has been since the upgrade do-da.
Sorry to hijack but doesn't warrant a thread.

Back works for me on here. The latest version of Avant does have trouble with flash though - or at least my install of it does.
