R5 Calender of Events

Hi,

Any Chance we could set up a calender of R5 anual events on here (similar to R6) so that we can all see at a glance what activities, drives and gatherings are planned well in advance? It should be fairly easy to keep up to date on here and allow members to show interest early on to get an idea of numbers etc??

I would love to get more involved in the club and the regions activities, however having a rather un-sociable job means I often can't get weekends off at short notice and so I tend to miss out on lots of the get together's! There must be others in the same boat? Plus we could put our own ideas and proposals forward to the other region's members??

Only an idea?

Simon

Simon, a printed calender of events is usually given out at the January or February meeting. Barry then keeps this update in his monthly Porsche Post column.

Events are suggested/planned at the November meeting, normally.

Hi steve,

Yes I appreciate that the larger and more regular events are planned well in advance and dates published early on.

I was more thinking of the smaller type, late organised gatherings such as drives out, or the open morning at Unit 11 the other saturday and such like.
And maybe we could make online suggestions such as an indoor karting night at Speedkarting and use the responses as to whether its a good or bad idea etc.

Just trying to enjoy the club atmosphere a little more

All good ideas that I agree with Simon but as you can see this section is very quiet these days [&o]

I usually post up local things I'm going to but they're always motorsport or trackday orientated so don't appeal to all [:D]. While I'm at it...... things I'm out at in the next few weeks are:

964 sprint day at Curborough on Saturday Oct 31st

PCGB trackday at Oulton Park on Tuesday Nov 3rd

Come along and say hello if you're free.

Steve,

I should be off on the 3rd, so may pop down to Oulton Park to see the cars on track. I might even try and blag a few passenger rides if that can be done for a small fee?? I would have par-taken but I dont think my Mk2 Golf GTi 1.8 turbo 20V track car would go down too well [:D], and the thought of a damp leaf covered Oulton Park and my T2 would keep my awake at night (in intensive care - probably)!!

Hope to see you there

Simon

Yes passengers are welcome....I think PCGB charge a tenner for a wristband and then you can get as many lifts round as you like. I can introduce you to a number of the regular Oulton crowd as long as you're happy to slum it in their 964RSs [:D]

Sounds like fun, will do my best to get down there and hang around for a few hours. What time does it all kick off?

Look forward to meeting everybody

Simon

Hi folks,

Apologies for the quiet forum the last few months. I've been "off line" for personal reasons.

I'll post Barry's newsletters here in future, which should help & try to keep you posted of imminent events. Next one is Classic Car Show/MPH at the NEC (and Top Gear Live if you're inclined). There will be a Porsche stand as usual. I went last year & thoroughly enjoyed the event, so highly recommended. It's a huge site!

Good regional meeting last night at the Deanwater. The turnout was not too bad and we had a good discussion about some fun events for 2010. There should be some good events that everybody will enjoy. Hopefully see some of you at the Christmas dinner next month. If you are interested in going, please drop Barry a line at pcgb_r5@btinternet.com

Bye for now,

Roddy
