R6 Return Meet & Greet Drive.

As discussed during Club night. I am keen to organise a drive with the guys and girls from R6, who have made Northumberland their chosen base for their WOTY this year and I thought it would be great to show them some good old Northern hospitality.

We have a couple of options to meet up. Firstly Saturday 22nd they are planing a fairly short run and will be leaving their Slaley Hall base at 9.30am to head for Otterburn via Chollerford and returning through Kirkharle before finally reaching their destination at Beamish Museum.(TBC)

The second option which I personally think fits best is to meet up before they head for home on Sunday 23rd June.

Meet at 11.45am at Slaley Hall, from here we can accompany them on their first leg home through the Yorkshire dales.

They are planning to stop for their lunch at a small pub near Scar View (15 miles fron Hawes) at around 2 o'clock, where we can say our goodbyes and then we can either find somewhere ourselves on the return leg for a cuppa, a spot of late lunch or even just a picnic on the moors somewhere if it's a nice day.

Please add to this thread if you have any other thoughts or suggestions and if you would like to join us for this short joint scenic drive.

I agree that the Sunday run would be a good idea Greg. How about saying our goodbye's after the drive and leaving them at 2.00pm'ish then driving the 15 miles over to Hawes and make reservations at the Cheese Factory (Wensleydale Creamery) they do a very nice carvery for lunch. (See their website for menu, One course £10.95, two course £14.95, three courses £16.95)

If we do a 3.00pm lunch it might be far enough out of their busy period that they would take an advance block booking if we pay up front. I'm hungry already.....

Hi Greg, Sunday is best for us. Happy to join in with any food and drink arrangements - whether it’s lunch out or a picnic or just coffee and cake 🍰

David I did say might

The Porsche might self destruct again and I might rock up in something else....

Fingers crossed for roof down weather though

I really wouldn't wash the car Dave..... It may never start again...!

We should be there. Looking forward to it.

Does anyone have more details about the route or the location of the lunch stop. I can’t make Hexham for 11:45 so would like to pick up the convoy somewhere on the way.

Greetings

Call me stupid but are there any firm plans in place yet tomorrow such as meeting place (time) and food?

I may have missed it with all the traffic on here atm.

As requested "Stupid" Andy

Top of the page....

"Firm Plans" being the main point....!

Like I asked before Firm Plans....?
But it doesnt matter. I shall just be stupid

I'm game for whatever when it comes to food (no jokes) but there have been times at the creamery when the restaurant was super busy so I'm going to play it by ear.

I'll bring some fruit pastilles just in case we all get hungry

At the risk of sounding negative, this post has been live for 12 days now and we have discussed meeting up with R6 at the last two club nights and had quite a slow up take. I predict, though, that if the weather is nice tomorrow quite a few will turnout on the day. (which is why nothing has been set in stone)

I have spoken with the Wensleydale creamery, who as usual have tried to be as accommodating as possible but I am sure you will all understand it is really hard to pre-book places without prior commitment, especially on one of their busiest days of the week. They have, though, kindly offered us our usual parking at the front in the coach park, but because I couldn't confirm or guarantee numbers, understandably they will not reserve us a specific amount of tables based just on guess work. However, what they have agreed is to allow us to just rock up at our chosen time and promised if we speak to the staff on the day they will attempt to fit us all in together, can't say fairer than that. If you prefer however to guarantee your space in the restaurant for Sunday Lunch, please feel free to give them a ring on 01969 667664 and book your own table.

We plan to leave Slaley Hall NE47 0BX at around midday and aim to arrive at Hawes no later than 2.30pm, before the carvery stops taking orders at 3.00pm or the restaurant closes at 4.00pm.

For those who have never been, the cafe at the Creamery and the cheese tasting room are excellent so worse case is lots of free cheese and a cuppa I guess, before heading back North.

After this you are free to make your own plans as I appreciate some may not want to sit down to a Sunday Lunch and prefer to eat in the cafe or take their own food or even wander into town, the choice is yours.

I hope this helps to clear up any confusion and look forward to a great run and catch up tomorrow.

P.S. Andy there is no such thing as a stupid questions, I would rather more people asked than wrongly assume they aren't welcome to participate, like I have said a million times before, never be afraid to ask.

Regards Greg
