Hi all,
Great news! We are pleased to announce that we have confirmation from PCGB that we can still run the event providing we can all abide with the updated relaxed guidelines on social distancing.
We have decided to change the format of the weekend to keep everything as simple as we can. The revised itinery takes into account that we all can't be together over the weeknd like we usually are but we should still all be able to enjoy the weekend away in the hotel and driving in Wales.
The Hotel has recommended routes on their website, they can be found here. As we can't all set off together, the plan is for members to pick their route from the website and head off to enjoy the amazing driving roads and scenery Wales has to offer. If members need a print out of their preffered route, we can print off the route with driving directions if required. I would need to know around a week before we go to make sure I have time to print off the routes for you.
We plan to meet up at the hotel on the Friday evening around 4-6pm. As people arrive and check in, we can enjoy a socially distanced evening meal and catch up over drinks in the extended bar area. The Hotel are offering table service so it will be quite nice to relax in the new layout they have created.
After Saturday breakfast, we can head out on our chosen routes for the day. Please remeber, if you decide to take the same route as other members, we need to make sure that we have no more than groups of 10. We can always split up into groups and make sure we set off at 10 minute intervals if need be. We plan to eat out along the route but unfortunately we will not be able to all book the same venue. I have had a look on the route we plan to take and there are several places that we can stop for a quick snack.
Saturday evening will be similar to last year where we all attend an gorgeous evening meal before retiring to the bar for a catch up on the days events over a few drinks.
With regard to travelling and drives, especially associated with the WOTY, the clubhouse have been continuing thier research to understand the current position. The maximum figure of six cars has slowly been relaxed from the original directive prevailing and changing independently across the various UK nations. The guidelines associated to all occupants however, are still fundamental for everyone's safety and remains "from the same household or bubble".
Therefore, if all appropriate rules and guidelines are adhered to, a larger group could consider making the journey or trips out together. We may consider 10 for example, as once we reach beyond 12, the rules of the MSA apply and the appropriate forms require completing and approvals sought (often by county crossed). Depending on the number of people still attending the event, we plan to be releasing what now may be two or three groups with delay in between. This should make the weekend more enjoyable.
With the situation ever evolving and the government guidelines being reviewed regularly, we will monitor the situation and review again as we get closer to the event.
We have had a quick update from the Hotel today. They are re-opening on 3rd August and they are looking forward to welcoming us on our revised WOTY event. For a personal video update from Justin the owner of the Hotel, please click the link here. There have been a few cancellations so there are spaces available. Anyone wishing to book onto the event can do so by contacting the hotel direct and quoting R7 PCGB WOTY.
Of course, with the corona virus far from being behind us, each attendee must asses the risk of attending the event. Each member may have different views on what is safe and what they feel is a risk. With that in mind, please feel free to contact me to discus further or the Hotel direct. We will try our best to help with any questions you may have.
We hope everyone is still keeping safe and well and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
Thanks, Dean & Leyla
