It became obvious that there was a lack of interest in going to the Owl again for the Christmas party as we only had twenty three sign up by the deadline and we felt that this was too small a number for the size of room. Therefore we had a re-think about the venue and came up with an alternate evening in York City Centre on the same night, Saturday 15th January.

We are going to kick off the evening with drinks followed by a Ghost Walk for those that would like to. Afterwards we will be retiring to Meltons Too for dinner. This is a lively quality restaurant that is used to handling parties and produces dishes based on local produce. Their party menu is £23 per head, an example of which can be found here.

At the moment we have 27 signed up and can accomodate 50, subject to availability. If you would like join us for the Christmas meal then please let me know.

I have produced a google map here with a recomended car park, Castle Car Park off Tower Street in front of the Hilton Hotel and the location of the restaurant on Walmgate maked, map here.

I will post up the final program with times by the end of the week.

I have had a look around for a reasonable set of hotels, if you look on http://www.yorkhotels.com for the 15th you should get three pages of hotels.

I have picked out the following list as being close to the town centre and of reasonable prices.

The Park Inn By Raddison is dead centre of town on the river, as is the
Premier Inn York City (Blossom St) North & South

The Best Western Kilima hotel is easy to drive to and a 15 minute walk from
the town centre.

There are also 2 Travel Lodges in York centre, Piccadilly and Micklegate (both are £76 per room per night for 15th Jan).

All,

The starting point for the evening is the Guy Fawkes pub at 25 High Petergate (YO1 7HQ) 01904 623716. We will be there from 5.45 pm.

The Ghost walk will kick off at 6.40pm from the West Door (the front door) of the Minster which is a short distance from the pub. The walk should take about 1 hour 10 minutes. The cost of the Ghost walk is being met out of Regional funds.

If anyone can't make the Ghost Walk then please let me know or if you are running late on the night give me a call, the number is below.

The meal is booked for 8.30 at Melton's Too, 25 Walmgate (YO1 9TX) 01904 629222.

I have added markers for the recommended car park, the Guy Fawkes, the Minster and the restaurant to the google map in the link here.

I will email out a printable map in the next day or so.

We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday and hope you have an enjoyable evening out.
