Raby Castle 2007 - North East Region

Fred Hindle

New member
The North East Region is holding their annual show at Raby Castle on Sunday the 22nd of July 2007. I realise that this is a long way off but I thought I would 'test the water' and see if there was any interest in organising a R18 run over to support a neighbouring region. I went over last year and it was a thoroughly enjoyable event.
So, if you are interested either drop me an email or reply to this post with some idea of whether you would prefer a run over there on the day, or an overnight stay at a hotel, B&B, camp site, lay by. If there is enough interest shown then I'll start planning something.
I will also mention this at the next monthly meeting when we give the Christmas hamper to you know who.[:)]
Cheers,

I know mac...'ex - member ' is trying to give me complex! I mean at least non member would just go to enhance my tight ar$ed yorkshireman reputation...but ex member infers that youve been disgraced, lost your stripes and asked to leave !!

oh the shame of it !!

hope to see you all next week folks [:D][;)]

Hello Mac and Sue,
Sorry, can't tow the R18 Race Centre behind any of the Porsches and certainly not going to buy a Cayenne to do so.
Will see you next Wednesday at the meeting.
Cheers,

As you can now see that nice Mr. Doczi at HQ has restored my correct status ![;)]

so nomore 'ex-member' rhubarb from you lot!!!

bloody lancs!![:D][:D][;)]

Shouldn't that be 'Tyke Member'? Which as far as I recall was lower in rank to 'Non Member'[:)]
As I am a Southerner mine should say 'Superior PCGB Member' [:)][:)]

See you on Wednesday Zeb unless your sister in law is having another birthday.

Cheers,

R18 or any other region members that may be interested.
See my initial (that the first one Zeb) regarding this event. Would make an enjoyable weekend away if we get our acts together and plan something.
Let me know either via the forum or PM if interested.
Nick Stevenson is looking at the chances of camping actually in the castle grounds for the Saturday night - can't get closer than that.
Cheers,

Update on the camping - Nick has had a meeting with the people at Raby Castle.
Camping will be allowed in the grounds so you can't get closer than that. If you are interested in camping on the Saturday night please let Nick know via his posting,(see http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=243014 ) I have camping gear - stoves, even a couple of spare small tents available (and it is only one night we are talking about). This could be a good time for a BBQ.
As well as letting Nick know could you please put a reply on this thread if you are interested.
This could be the biggest gathering of Porsches this year in the North so lets make it happen people.
Cheers,

Just bumped this so it appears.

I won't be at the June meeting, (didn't want the publicity in Lancashire magazine, people may think I'm actually from Lancashire whereas in truth I'm a Southerner).
Another reason is that I'll be hopefully doing some fishing and midge hunting on the shores of Loch Lomond so I won't even be in the country. Another foreign holiday, just need to find my English / Scottish phrase book.
Will there be a convoy of only one Porsche going over to Raby Castle on the Saturday?
Cheers,

A sad question I know but where is Raby castle? By the way Fred the pic attached to your threads is bldy awful. Trust a Southerner to have such bad taste!

Hello Craig,
I take it you don't like the picture taken by the Hubble telescope, I'll pass on your opinions to NASA! I will try and find something more to your taste, oops sorry - Welsh and taste, bit of an oxymoron there I think!
Attached is the original jpg (I hope).

Raby Castle is siuated on the A688 between Staindrop and West Auckland, County Durham. To be precise 54.59477º North, 1.79484º West.
In all seriousness this event was excellent so I thought I would try and drum up some attendance from the other regions this year. It is a bit of a trek so that is why I'm going over on the Saturday and camping (actually in the grounds of Raby Castle) that night so I can have a leisurely start on the Sunday.
Have a look at North East region for more details if you are interested.

Cheers,

Found it on multimap!, 155 miles for me! Please count me in. Not sure about camping though! No showers and guaranteed to rain! plus strapping the mattress on the roof of my turbo would obstruct my view somewhat , might do B&B or something or just drive up in the morning. I suppose it depends on how many people want to stay over! I am never one to turn down a few beers though!

Craig,
Just about tee total I'm afraid, just don't like the taste of beer and wine is like vinegar to my uneducated palate. May bring some whiskey with me though. (Won't be the first time I've drunkenly fallen into a tent (sometimes not my own either!).

Cheers,

So far expect to leave North Wales about 10 ish. I think I will call for lunch somewhere close to High Force first, then up to the waterfall. Expect to arrive at Raby about 4 ish, weather permitting.

Hello Craig,
I'm going straight over to Raby Castle on Saturday and see if I can be on any help to Nick in setting up for Sunday. If the weather is poor then being a heathen when it comes to food there is a really good chippy in Barnard Castle (the local's use it), they have a small eating area so you can eat in. If you care to join me then you are welcome. If it is cracking the flags then a bbq is likely, again welcome to join me.
Cheers,

Thanks Fred! My bodyguard is coming along as well! Lets hope the forecast gets better. So far its showers all day / night.

Cracking thread with Geoff on Badges. lol Not laughed so much in ages!
