Race Seats and 3 point Belts???

Hopefully a friendly 964 owner can explain/show how the factory ran 3 point belts with the RS seats.

I have most of the puzzle solved for my Recaro Pole Position seats including using a couple of RS bits and pieces in the install. For track use I have a good 6 point harness set-up but there are times when I want to use the 3 point belts. The last problem to solve is that the OE receptacle for the belts sits up too high for the 3-point to fit thru the hole in the side of the seat. You can just see it in the photo below. If I use the 3-points I have to run the belt over the side of the seat before I clip it into the receptacle and from a safety point of view I think this is less than ideal.

Does the RS have a shorter "receptacle" (is there a technical term for the receptacle???)?

Many thanks,
Richard

Richard,
I'm pretty sure it just goes over the top of the seat rather than through the harness hole (it does in a 968 CS anyway !). I have seen cars with the belt fed through the 'shoulder' hole, but can't remember if the bottom of the strap went through the 'outside' hole too.
I stand to be corrected though ..........

The 3 point inertia reel belt goes over the shell seat.... over the shoulder for the diagonal, and over the seat side for the lap part. I never found it loose and I'm a really skinny b@stard. Can't be that unsafe, at a guess.

For what its worth certainly over the top, but i pop mine thru the side ,as u know i am a fat b.....d but it works for me

I routed mine through the holes and it cut off circulation, so it's back to normal now. And yes I'm a fat ba57ard too...

...well I am all for keeping it simple. If over the shell is good enough for the factory cars then over the shell it is. Still feels a little loose to me.

If anyone has a picture I would still like to see it.

Vic, I would never call you a fat b@stard - many other things maybe, but not a fat b@stard.

ciao,
Richard

Three point belts.......bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! Half the fun is taking your time getting trussed up in a six-point harness. That's why the RS is such a poor getaway car.......

Time for my medication, matron........[;)]

And then realising you can't reach the door-pull to close it...[;)]
