Raceland seats

They may be perfectly fine, but you'll only find out when it's too late... I don't think I'd be prepared to take that risk. I'm not sure how rigorous the FIA checks are, but having a seat with their approval does make me feel better. The Cobra Imola that I use is one of the cheaper seats on the market, they're light, comfortable and the fabric is pretty hard wearing too. Whilst the exposed carbon on these eBay seats look nice I think spraying them the same colour as the paintwork can look even better (especially if you had a white car [:D]).

I've not heard of them so haven't the foggiest I'm afraid, but if they have Fia approval then they sound promising to me.

It might be worth going to the Autosport show at the NEC in January, it's what I did and I was able to sit in a variety of seats before settling on the ones I went for, I was amazed how uncomfortable some of the seats on my shortlist were.

I'm sure an extra £2-300 spent now will not be regretted in the long term and in my case I even started by just changing the drivers seat as I rarely drive in a manner that a passenger would require a bucket seat when they are onboard anyway.

I agree with Peter, go and sit in a few. I have Sparco Sprint seats in my rally car and after a couple of hrs in them I can hardly walk. I get bad back pain from them and before anyone says it I am not an old man only 30.

I would think all seats have to have some kind of testing, so all should be safe. The worse I have been told about is if you have harness on the seats and have an accident the harness can snap the back of the seat!! But not sure if this was due to poor seats or the angle of the harness.
 
Yes I've been thinking that may well bbe the best plan of action. Hope we can get the 2-for-1 offer again?

Benny, i had some Raceland seats fitted to my 944 for a while and covered over 6k and around 80 laps of the nurburgring in them and have to say they were as good as the sparco seats i had fitted to my merc cosy.... in fact the only difference was the way the seat was mounted and the name stiched on the seat...if your going pro then FIA is the only real way to go if not and your not trying to keep up with the jones's then you should get a good seat for a good price...[;)]

If you have seat harness straps passing through or over a seat then when you decelerate your shoulders move forward due to the large weight on top of them.

This forward motion needs to be restrained however to have the straps straight out the back almost level will restrain the body evenly. To have the straps pointing down at any large angle (45 degrees is huge) means that when the shoulders move forward the strap then also compresses the spine (and your seat)

Most race cars have the straps about 10 degrees from horizontal
