All,
Just to let you know we have got the engine back together on my 2.7 and we will be out at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire this weekend, racing in the Porsche Club Championship (car no. 42).

We will be testing at the circuit tomorrow, with races on both Saturday and Sunday. I believe we are race 2 on each day which probably means about 1pm on Saturday and late morning Sunday.

We went "testing" at a Goldtrack trackday (http://www.goldtrack.co.uk/ - an excellent, well organised day) yesterday and things went well. We think we are a little off the pace but the main reason for this is the fact that the car is 80kgs above the minimum allowed (7% - far too much!). We're runnning out of ways to lose it, too. A few calculations suggest this is around a second a lap disadvantage on top of the 3% power-to-weight loading against us in the championship regulations. In total we are at 0.131kW/kg compared to a well sorted 3.2 Carrera which is at 0.145kW/kg, and a Class 2 911 SC which is at 0.129. Hmmmm!

Wish me luck - I'll need it!

Good luck Marcus, after seeing the car at Snetterton I'm sure you will do well - just diet a bit more ![;)]

For anyone interested, the car was a little off the pace (and the driver...? actually, I think I was about 95% "on it" by the end of the second race) but we finished 8th in each race, and about 1.7 seconds down on laptimes to the best Class 1 runners. I'm pretty happy with that result, all told - the car is 80kgs overweight and we are not sure of the power but I doubt it is approaching the limit allowable in the series - in all I suspect we are currently running at a power:weight of 10-12% below where we can be with a bit more development.

Next stop Superchips with whom I have discussed remapping the fuelling/ignition. I will report back on the success (or otherwise) of this next adventure....

Marcus
