All,
After an annoying year I'll be out again this coming Bank Holiday Monday in the Porsche Club Championship. I only managed a handful of races last season after an early engine failure, and then a clutch giving out in the last race. This season the engine again gave up on me in the first race....
We are 99% sure we know what the problems were and we've made a few mods as allowed by the championship organisers that should cure them. It would be nice to get some reliability and "prove" that the Boxster can be competitive against the 964s, 968s and 3.2 Carreras.
The car is still a little heavy (45kgs), but we think the power is bang on the money so I should only be 4% down on the power-to-weight we are allowed. This will clearly limit my ability to be right at the front but the strength is what all on this forum know well - the Boxs is extremely nimble so we'll give it a go! At Croft last year I was able to brake later and harder than most of the 911s I encountered and the car was a match through the corners - but they simply drove away from me on the straights. We've gained a few bhp since then so who knows...
I look forward to perhaps seeing a few of you there!
