Radar/gatso detectors

Guest

New member
Drove down to Lancaster today in our four year old diesel Espace (with plastic hubcaps)

Conscious that while I know what Gatsos look like, don't know how to detect other speed traps. (Are they affixed to the flyovers?)

Anyway, think that I should invest in a detector.

What do you recommend? Would like something that we could move from car to car.

Just purchased mine today.
I do around 40K miles a year and have been extremely lucky to not get any points so far.
However , its a fact that my luck will run out soon without protection.

Went for the new Snooper S4 Neo with the Radar Plug in.

Managed to get them to match another price which was all in delivered for £359.98.
Also with a 5 Yr Warranty.

From the various write ups, this seems to be the best at the moment.

The specs system is the cameras that clock you between points and work out your average speed.

Thanks

Will order one.

Is Specs operatioanal? A colleague suggested that it was not being used yet to catch speeders.

noticed your thread i have had the same dilema and spent some time looking the snooper sr4 and new road angel seem to be equivalent ,the best (opinion of people punting the gear )still seems to be the origin b2 .They have just announced a new version which is called solo and is self contained like the above two ie no messy wires or pro installation. the origin came out top in the autoexpress test earlier this year the snooper second the new road angel hadnt been released.I think though that all do a pretty good job . I have purchased the origin b2 solo.Hope this helps

Don't forget to remove them if going to France, as they are VERY illegal, and the fines are worse than for actually speeding!

Has anyone fitted their Snooper/Road Angel? I've been thinking of getting one but it seems like you end up with two or three bits stuck on your windscreen/dashboard, which you then have to remove when you park anywhere. Too much hassle? If anyone has actually fitted one I'd be grateful for their comments. I was about to buy a Snooper S4/R or S6/R. With the S4/R you have:

The main unit, plus wire to cigarette lighter, and radar detector unit with wire to main unit.

With S6/R:

Main unit, wire to cigarette lighter, GPS unit plus wire, radar/laser detector unit with wire.

Seems like a hell of a mess!

I have recently purchased the S4 Neo with Radar Plug in.

It seems to be working on everything I have seen ............so far so good.
I use an oil burner Audi for work everyday and simply swap the units between cars without too much drama.

I basically purchased an extra window mount for both the detector and the radar plug in along with an additional cigarette power adaptor.
Basically I have both mounts permanently fitted to both cars and simply unclip both units whenever I leave the car.
A small little snooper case holds both units nicely.

To be honest its no more hassle that removing the mobile phone from its hands free fixing.

Hope this helps

Yeah that does help, thanks Rob. Extra wrinkle is I just discovered my cigarette socket doesn't work!

Before you all rush off and but your detectors there was one advertised in telegraph 2 weeks ago which is a snooper copy.I could probably get them for abt£140 a throw
if i order 10 at a time was thinking of asking around at next section meeting/

TRY WIREING YOUR DETECTORS DIRECT INTO INTERIOR LIGHT 6 INCHERS OF CABLE ONLY AND VERY NEAT.
