Radiator change advice on 944S2

The rad on my 1990 944 S2 is leaking, its got so bad now I have to change it soon so the car is off the road for now [:(][:(][:(]

It looks as though I'd have to remove the air flow sensor in addition to the fans and the rad is two bolts and disconnect all the pipes. I have a replacement radiator.

Anyone done this job and have any good words of advice before I start? Is the 944 colling system prone to airlocks on re-filling, for instance?

I've just been reading the Clarks garage advice, but not sure if the S2 being a non turbo car, it says I have to remove the rad from below??

anyone done this job like to comment?

many thanks

You can get it out from the top, just takes more time & as you say you need to remove some stuff for access. You'll probably need to remove the fan shroud separately. Clarks garage will also give you solid instructions on how to bleed the coolant afterwards, it helps to have the car on a slight uphill slope but it's not essential.

I've changed the rad on my cab and had to do it from the underneath jacking the car up and removing the plastic cover to allow the rad to drop down once everything was disconnected.
Mine was leaking from one of the seams. It's not that difficult but time consuming and there's not a great deal of space to work in.

It will come out from the top, strip down process is common sense and easy enough; fans, hoses, AFM/intake pipes etc. (much easier than the turbo).

I finally did it over this weekend. Went Ok except the replacement radiator was 1/2 "" too short??? Looks the same otherwise. I eventually got it all fitted after modifying the rubber mounts to take up the slack. Car now performs without clouds of steam, but- have i GOT the wrong rad??? replaced most of the hose clips (they were rusty) and some of the screws for the under tray.

It fits and works, but is slightly smaller is this a problem???
