Radiator grill covers?

Hello
(1st post, 1st Porsche: be gentle! ;-) )

I picked up my 992 Targa 4S last week (yaay!)

To the casual eye, I can see a lot of radiator at the front.

'tinternet says "fit some aftermarket grills" - likely Zunsport

What's the ownership experience - are the front radiators vulnerable?

Will

Fit them
but remove them before you take your car to an OPC as many state such grills invalidate the Porsche warranty, although I'm not aware they have ever explained why. The revenue, sorry costs, costs to repair or replace faulty rads may,or may not, have any bearing...

There is an inconsistency as some OPC will supply them...

Welcome and congratulations on your new motor - wonderful colour! ????

There's quite a lot here regarding Zunsport and other radiator grills if you do a search.

If you would like to tackle it yourself, there's a DIY post here. (You need to be logged in to access it.)

Whether you decide on a commercial product or a DIY solution, have in mind any potential effect on warranty. It's unlikely there will be a problem with your manufacturer's 3 year warranty (unless it's overheating or something) but it may well have implications for any future extended warranty later.

Probably best to speak to your PC about it to see how they feel. Many of us fit them and have not had a problem thus far.

Regards,

Clive

As Clive says, if you intend to use a particular Dealership, ask them in as advance if the fitment of grills will be a problem for them. I have them on my car and no problem with my OPC.

And welcome to the Green Party.

My OPC (Tewkesbury) actually suggested it, and have not caused issues since. If there was an overheating problem they might be a bit different.

One advantage of the Zunsport grills (unless you have the aero front end) is that they protect the vent actuation mechanism, which would, no doubt, be very expensive to fix, if a pheasant went through it.

Hi

Like the OP I have a 992 (standard front) with the ACC large eye on the front and the Zunsport grille for the centre covers this with mesh. Is this likely to cause a reduction in LiDAR performance with the ACC? Although I have the function I haven’t used it at all yet in over 4100 miles! Many thanks

Speak to Zunsport, they may well offer to make your car a 'guinea pig' if they have not done that particular version before. Several of us on the Forum have had that done, including my TurboS.

I fit the Zunsport to my Targa GTS, and I've had no issues with my OPC (West London). They improve the look of the car in my view, and will protect from a bird strike etc.

I have contacted them but all the technical team say is that "they have sold hundreds with the mesh over the ACC front mounted lidar sensor" which doesn’t really answer the question..

thanks

OK, not the response from Zunsport I expected, so presumably they would have had to offer an alternative if the mesh affected the LIDAR sensor.
