Hi All
What are people"s opinions on radiator grills as it looks like I am going to have to have my radar replaced.
What are the best ones to fit?.

Thanks
Jonathan

Silly ar$e Daren, I'm sure he means radar detector, or diffuser. Jonathan, as far as I know, Zunsport are about the best ready-mades, but most of us make them ourselves for a fraction of the cost. There are a couple of DIYs in the Technical Articles section.

Zunsport as mentioned. Fitted to my Cayman S Sport in less than 5 mins 1 scewdriver needed to fit. Easy quick and smart. Cliff.

I have the Zunsports fitted. Love them! They protect the radiator and they make the car look more modern too.

I've done both - 5 minutes of fitting Zunsports and 2 hours of DIY cutting and gluing. Both give good results but the latter is a fraction of the price and dare I say, looks a more professional and OE finish.

+1 for Zunsport.... Neil & I have compared our cars & agree it makes them look more modern & 'beefy'..... 100% better protection too! Wake up Porsche but then I guess they would loose fortunes in revenue[:D]. 15% discount code: 1006 21185 paul

DIY. Takes less than half hour to remove bumper......£20 from Halfords and £1 clear sealant....a little bit of patience.....fantastic results at a fraction of the cost. Did mine last year and they still look new. By the way...make sure you snip out a small section of the duct at the back to further prevent the gathering of leaves and dirt. I think steve put some pictures on an earlier thread. Good luck

Did you just use sealant without any screws to hold the grills in place?

Chris I used windscreen adhesive on mine, no screws just a couple of cable ties to hold it in place while it cured. Neat job and keeps the car looking original.

Yes Christ, you don't need to use screws, just plenty of clear sealant. My wife put up with the bumper sitting in our living room over night. Once cut, leave enough to bend over the edges, then place some heavy weights on the grille itself to hold tight whilst the sealant sets. If you look at my previous posts Im sure I posted pictures.

There is a write up I did in the 996 Technical section giving an indication on how to do it.
