Radiators

Hi. I have just changed my radiators on my 2.7 Boxster, 2000 model. What is the best way to make sure that all the air is out off the system.
Thank you for the October edition off the club mag which was a big help.

Fill slowly with water and have the engine running - this will assist the bleeding of air, when the thermostat opens any air left will percolate to the expansion bottle.
I guess you are already filled now so - Take off the oil and water caps, lift the plastic false bottom below the caps - there you will see a valve, the pin has an excentric pull over lever movement to it, Pull the pin over, replace the oil cap but leave the water cap off, now start the engine, allow it to reach normal opperating temperature and then give it 10 more minutes idling, the air will be purged via the valve.
Switch off, put the lever back in its original position and replace the plastic false bottom, caps back on- thats it - all done

I think the point here is how to purge all air out of the system, The individual owner will make the decision as to whether that fluid be water alone or with antifreeze, of course the sensible solution is water mixed with anti-freeze as it contains rust/corrosion inhibitors and will prevent freezing.

Not sure if the above post is intended to be sound advice or simply a play with semantics at the advice i gave, when i used the term water perhaps i should have said coolant
