Radio 4 Long Wave

Hello all. Newbie here, recent proud owner of a 2007 C4S and absolutely loving it.

I wonder if I can ask a potentially stupid question. The PCM system has AM Medium Wave but doesnt seem to have long wave, so no radio 4 (198), hence no cricket. I appreciate many may think this a little sad but driving around in the summer with the sunroof open and the cricket on the radio is my idea of heaven. As I understand it, if i can get the 540-1600 Medium Wave AM frequency, it should be able to get long wave too - ie this is as much a software as a hardware problem. Is this correct? Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might get Radio 4 Long Wave on the car radio? If not, is there an aftermarket digital radio kit I could use?

Thanks in advance

Andrew

You need to get down to 198 on AM to get Test Match Special on Long Wave.

Many systems, including the Becker, don't go down this far.

All Pioneer systems do and the OEM system fitted to my wife's Subaru also - but I'm not sure who makes that one.

It's a failing of most continental sourced systems fitted to high value motors, I'm afraid. [] -

I bought a Roberts Sports handheld unit for my last Porsche, velco'd it to the rear side window and used a pair of headphones!

Yes, but what will happen when UK withdraw FM and all other annalogue frequencies in a couple of years time?

None of our radios will work, not even those in cars ordered this year!

I hate to think what we will be charged to upgrade PCM!

Will we get a free fix?

At present there is a 'scappage' scheme for annalogue radios in the High Street.

I mentioned this to Porsche a year ago.

Guess what... no answer! []
