Radio Change

I have 1989 Carrera with the Audio Option Pack fitted ie additional amplifier.
I want to change the radio as the CD in the standard fitted radio is no longer working.
The standard radio has an 8 pin din output to the amplier via the cars loom.
Can anybody please advise if I can purchase a conversion lead from a modern ISO connect to the 8 pin din.
If not any help with speaker colours would be a help.
Also may want to bypass the old amplifier as chances are the new radio will be better tahn the old amplifier set up and not sure where amplifiers are located.
Any help on any of the above would be much appreciated.
Thanks, John

have you got an ipod (or simiar) if so forget about cd changes, get a roadtrip for the ipod (or similar) and have a bigger choice of music to call on than cd's in the glovebox..... or even better open the windows and tune in to the flat six symphony[:D][:D][:D].

I have somehow a similar problem, mine is a 3.2 MY 1989.

Unfortunately my amplifier is no longer working, I had to remove it last week. I found it under the passenger footwell, screwed at the back of the piece of wood which is underneath the carpet. I also have the 8 pin DIN going from the back of the radio to the amplifier. My radio is the original Blaupunkt with cassette. Luckily this radio has 4 entries for the 4 speakers (old type speaker connections with a flat and a round bit, I do not know what they are called). The speakers are connected to the amplifier via these plugs. You can also connect the amplfier to the radio with this type of plug but at the factory they prefered to use the 8 pin I presume to avoid too many wires at the back of the radio, space being at a premium. I have been able to bypass the amplifier with some extra wiring and plugs, the radio works well even though you do notice the absence of the amplifier.

At present I am looking for an amplifier which will fit behind the footwell, found nothing as yet (if anybody has any ideas I would appreciate any info, thanks).

The sound of the flat 6 is great but sometimes one does fancy a bit of music or news (not in the summer).

Take care
