Radio faulty

My radio in my Boxster has stopped producing any sound. The unit lights up and the stations are visible on the display, but no sound is coming from the speakers. Can any one give me an idea what could be wrong please??

What model radio? I have a CDR24 with sound plus system and find that it does this sometimes. My solution is to

switch radio off
lock doors
leave for a few seconds
unlock doors
open door
switch radio on

No idea why this works but it does seem to.
