Radio reception

Hi,

Has anyone had issues with the screen mounted antenna on a 944? My radio reception has always been bad. I know there is a booster fitted somewhere but how and where do i need to check for voltage please?

Cheers
Craig

Hi Craig, It's the little black box under the screen, about in front of the steering wheel and to the right, where the wires from the internal antenna come out in to the scuttle. The screen normally has a milky area there: moisture gets in where the wires exit the laminated glass. I've not heard of it failing, but becoming disconnected when work is done in the area is common.

Sorry, being a bit thick... Is the little black box inside the car or under the bonnet? Had a look at the little wire coming from the screen and that all seems intact. Just not sure where to find the booster and check for power?

Under the bonnet. If you stand in front of the driver's door, and look in the area where all the leaves collect, just under the screen edge. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow! I guess about 10 cm in from the lower OS corner of the screen, the wires ahould lead somewhere. If they don't, then that might well be the problem....[&:]

On the subject of radio reception my amplifier and aerial are perfect.............for fm. When I try to listen to mw I get the most horrific noises akin to being inside an MRI machine!! I am on my 3rd head unit and all have done exact same. Anyone else suffered this/know the cure? Suppressor maybe? Stuart
