Hello,

I would like to put back an original style radio in my 1980sc (it is the only thing on the car which is not original) but I cannot determine exactly which model was fitted to my car in that year.

Anyone knows? I guess it was a blaupunkt but which model ?

Thanks for your help

My July 1980 sc was originally fitted with a Panasonic radio/casette. The model number escapes me but I probably have the original handbook for it so will try to find.
It was pretty hopeless and the plastic fast forward/rewind/eject button didn't make it through the 1980's so the unit was replaced. Any older Blaupunkt will look good though.

The american brochure I have got for 2 years later shows the Monterey SQR 22 in the dash. But that is a US unit. Typically in '81 Porsche in the UK were using Panasonics like the CQ-873.

The Toronto (SQR 32, 45, 48 , 49) was pretty much the top line unit through the early 80's so anything like that would be period. Pic of one here.

There isn't much on eBay at the minute - one US Phoenix here but that's a little bit later as is pull-out. If I see anything suitable on my eBay travels I will PM you the link.

Greetings
Now it might just be I can help. Certainly a Blaupunkt would look right in the dash[;)]. I don't know where in the universe your based but I know a car radio place that has a few "museum" pieces of interest, going back further than "8 track players"! or so I'm told. Anyway if your interested, they are S.K.RADIO and the tel. no:01895.238592, and their based in Hillingdon, just north of Heathrow.
Hope this helps
Alex

I've used SK in the past, good guys.

An old Toronto will be cheaper on eBay though. Only thing to remember with those Blaupunkts is some have no internal amp so make sure you get one that has, and also they use those fiddly 2-pin speaker connections so try to get those from the seller also.
