Rain repellant on a Targa roof

I'm collecting my 993 Targa in a couple of weeks time and I was wondering if anybody has any views on the use of water repellant solutions (Rain-X) on the Targa's glass roof?

I've used this stuff on the side windows on my A4 Avant & I've been happy with the results but is this okay to put onto my Targa roof ?

Also, the car I'm getting has the hard-backed sports seats & I'll occasionally have my young daughter in the rear (in a kiddie seat). Does anyone know of where I might get a clear, adhesive film that could be applied to stop my child scuffing my seats but that won't damage the seat backs if I remove it?

Any advice is much appreciated.

I've recently used Rainex on my '79 Targa front screen with great success, different animal I know. Whilst it works on front screens because high pressure air forces the rain drops of the surface , the result may not be the same on the Targa's glass roof (beautiful design by the way, perhaps the most gorgeous incarnation of the 911 shape) because the blast of air probably won't be as high, it might be enough though. Try it out I can't imagine you would cause any damage but ring Porsche cars for their opinion.

rainx or when zymol wax on the roof is fine....

as for the other, sorry I have std seats... soft shoes for your daughter ?

Darren.

You can buy a clear plastic protector for the back of your seats at any baby / child retailer. It looks a bit like a giant bib with a couple of straps at the top with a velcro fastener and some string straps at the bottom. Not particularly attractive but only takes two minutes to fit and unfit. My wife has one in the family car and it does the job.

I've RainX'd my roof and its fine- gives a nice shine and makes it much easier to clean...

I've tended to use the soft shoe route with the kiddywink, or remove shoes altogether?
