Range of tank

Morning Everyone,
I finally realised a long term desire - namely to get a Boxster. 10 years old, 24,000 miles (genuine), silver with black hood. Makes me grin every time I get in it! I intend to use it as a normal car as much as is possible, what the range approximately for normal town driving on the tank ( which I believe is 60 litres).
Cheers.

Early cars had 55 litre tanks, later ones 65 litres.
I'm not sure when they changed over though - about 10 years ago I suspect...

On a 2.5 on a daily commute you might see 27mpg if its more than 10 miles. I could get 300 miles from my 2.7 and can do the same from the 987S. Longer runs see near 400 miles from a tank, even with a bit of heavy right foot

I obviously don't drive mine right :p I can get over 400 miles to a tank in my Cayman S. Normally about 320-350 miles - fill up around 58 to 61 litres :)

400 miles on normal town driving?
my computer readout on town driving(which was the question) says about 20mpg,which equates to about 250 miles
it will do 400 miles on a long run sure

My current average mpg since I have had the car is 27.25mpg.

In town I get between 320 to 350 miles to a tank. With mainly motorway driving, I have done up to 405 miles.

I get about 22mpg in normal use (mostly town and short by passes) but i dont let it fall below 1/4 of a tank before filling, mostly to disguise the damage to my pocket whilst at the pump!

BTW i use optimax or equivalent as it gives me over 10% better economy for about 5% more cost........

Blimey !!
you have either a feather for a right foot +or your "town"is nothing like mine in the south east!!
whilst i also average 27mpg -on town and long drives -i get nowhere near that round "town"-usually round 20-21 mpg which as i said before is about 250 miles a tank

+1

get about 250mls around town in my 2004 986S... can get up to 350mls if not in town...

I have the 'on-board computer' option, which is nice - but can someone tell me the significance of the 'miles to fill-up' message vs the fuel light? In other words, does the message mean that the OBC reckons I've got just x miles until empty, or is there an additional 'reserve' allowance? The light seems to come on some way before x=zero miles.

Er, have I just answered my own question here?

LoL - you might just have done that David :D

The light in mine comes on with between 50 and 70 miles remaining - I guess they figure that should be enough advance warning to get to a fuel station :)

And Dylan - I am surprised at my mpg too - although it has dropped a bit as of late :) 320 to 350 miles equates to approximately 24.24 to 26.52 mpg, as I seem to be unable to fill up before the fuel warning light comes on :)

i remain very impressed by your consumption graeme, and suggest you dont sell your cs as you may not find another as economical-i would love to be able to get 25mpg,and would love to blame my20-21 on spirited driving-i dont often get the chance with all the B@@@y traffic round here[:D]

Hahaha - I hear you loud and clear! I live in a village, so while I do a fair amount of town driving, its more like towns like Aylesbury - nothing like driving in London all the time!

I practised the light foot methods when I commuted to and worked in London [:)]

No comment on the selling thing however - this may be unavoidable in the very near future - we have a small person on the way! Anyone for an economical Cayman S?!? [:D]

dont sell graeme .......get a baby mover.as well ....otherwise you will end up with a succession of volvo estates and not get another porsche for 20yrs[:D]aargh!!!learn from my mistakes!!
seriously best of luck with new arrival, enjoy the remaining time with the CS!!
