Rapid indicator noise

evening all....you know that speeded up indicator noise you sometimes get, I think it means a bulbs gone..well I'm getting it now but only when I brake whilst indicating at the same time. If I'm still indicating but lift off the brakes the indicators revert back to the normal sounding speed...checked my bulbs, all ok, so seems a bit bizarre to me, any ideas please? Cheers

Sounds like you have a bad leakage somewhere mate. I would start with the light units in the boot. Look for chafed wires touching each other or earth or any other paths for leccy to track on.

Cheers rob, just had a thought, had it on a trickle charger for the last 4 weeks while recovering from a knee op, so wonder if this could have anything to do with it....the brakes thing is puzzling though.

Could be the indicator relay playing up - had it on my 968 cab, Porsche Tonbridge swopped for a new relay, only cost about £10!

I second the bad earth. Fast flash is lack of current going through the flasher unit (one bulb missing or insufficient route to earth). When the earth is trying to take the current from the brake lights and the indicators it can't cope.

Cheers gents, I'll start by looking around the rear lights then, not sure what I'm looking for but hopefully I'll know when I see it!

Start by simply removing the multi plugs from the light units and spray lightly with WD40. It will indeed be either a bad earth connection or contacts within the multi plug that may be touching/corroded. They don't always blow fuses !

Had a look at lunchtime, removed boot carpet, gave the wires a little tickle and it seems to have worked, my rapid flashing days are over hopefully.
