Rather Noisy at times ?

I have had quite a few comments regarding the noise of my Boxster S. It is quite noisy when cold but even after a six mile drive to work and fully warm work colleagues ask if the exhaust is blowing ?. This obviously concerns me. The fuel consumption seems fine and it sounds very nice to me but I don't know of any other Boxster S owners near to me to compare. Has anyone else had any noise concerns ?

My S appears to be pleasantly on the noisy side too. Had similar comments about it. It sounds great to me and all that have shared the enjoyment of that wonderfully distinctive sound appear to agree with me!

I had my car MoT'd in December and the guy who did the test was very complimentary about the condition of the car. He let me take a look at the underside whilst it was on the ramp - no comments about a blowing exhaust. In fact, if there had been a problem, he would have failed it. As it was, it sailed through.

I have concluded that my car may well have been fitted with a performance system although in truth, I'm guessing. Theres nothing on my options list to say that it left the factory with a special in place.

Initially thought my exhaust was blowing too on the 987S. I can assure you that that's the signature note it's supposed to have.

I had a 24 hour test drive of a 987 S the other week - non sports exhaust & it was way louder than my 986 S. In fact it was louder than my GT3 at most revs under load, but fairly quiet once cruising. I liked it.

Thanks Jimso, I love the colour and chose it over every other available, I also like the fact that it has stone grey interior which is a nice alternative to black. What colour combo. do you have ?

Met. Blue with full leather. Blue Hood too. Works well. [8D]

Bit like this...

Yes, my 987S is decidedly throaty, and does sound a bit blowey at times on fast idle - i'm sure its getting noisier as themiles pile on too, so no need for a retro fit PSE now [:D]

I was loaned 2 different brand new Boxster Ss by OPC Bolton whilst they looked after my 996 last month. One had done 200 miles and one 400. Both had noticeably different personalities and were much noisier than my car when accelerating but were quiet cruising. If I didn't need 4 seats for my children I would be sorely tempted, very impressed although wet roundabouts were rather more entertaining than I expected - the Carrera 4 having much better grip in the wet.
