Hi, Had my 2000my 3.2 s two weeks now but have a concern!. if I leave the car for more than two days without starting there's an awful rattle from the engine on starting, its as if there's no oil in hydraullic tappets.
Its seems ok if only left overnight/24hrs only happens after a couple of days.
The rattle only sounds for approximately 3 to 5 sec till the oil gets round which makes me think its tappets!
Should I be concerned ????
I think the answer is yes, still its got a 12 factory warranty.

My S rattles on startup after a few days/weeks being left in the garage,
If the noise disappears after the few mo's then IMO i would imagine its the tappets just getting the pressure back up and no need to be concerned, if its under warranty then you could always ask for a checkup anyway

also minor smoke on initial startup is normal after being left a while [;)]

The answer is no - as Elliot advises it's the hydraulics pressurising.

But if in doubt get it checked out.
