hi all,

I have a plasticy ? kind of rattle coming from the front of my boxster (05 plate) 2.7, once you get to about 70mph, near side ! I have had dealer look at and see if anything is slack, but cant find anything, you get it in and out of gear, braking or not braking, so have discounted a number of things, just wondering if anyone has experienced some underbody trays or something that is prone to rattling at speed ! it gets worse the faster you go above 70pmh - well if you were allowed ?

regards
scott.

could be something as silly as a wheel arch liner touching a pipe and causing the noise or one of the front scoops not fitted properly, opc aren't interested in rattles from my experience.. no money to be made from em

Bit of a long shot but you could try moving the air intake cover blades around at the front and side and see if any are slightly loose. If they are they could 'buzz' at a particular resonant speed. (It may sound like its from the front but it might not be! )

cheers guys, if i (in fact when I do) find out what it is i will post, its driving me mad !

Check the storage box int he front boot - any thing stored in there (spare bulb kit, first aid kit ??), and also check the tools in the toolkit are secured too.

Then check the flap at the front of the front wheelarch liner - these can get broken by speed ramps, kerbs or road debris. On the 987 its an integral part of the largest of 3 parts that make up the wheelarch liner (986 they were screw on flaps). The full arch liner costs about £40 from the OPC. Easy fit yourself in 30 minutes, easier if you take the wheel off.
