Rattle

Just picked up my new Porsche Cayman S (registered Oct 2006) in the last two days. It has just started an annoying rattle somewhere from the rear. Sounds like a trim rattle from the back hatch area but difficult to say. Has anyone had this problem and do you have any suggestions as to what it may be?

you need to ask opc if the boot lid rubber stops have been replaced as they were on a recall for noises... then its a process of elimination, i had one coming from the trims round the n/s r quarter took a bit of felt tape to cure it..

Welcome to a trait of the Cayman. Most probably the rear hatch. Take it back to the OPC and they will adjust the rear hatch stops. Most Caymans do it, some are worse than others. Mine rattles sometimes but not bad enough to annoy me, so I have never had it adjusted. There's a fine line between no rattle and the hatch being hard to close, so it's important that the OPC adjust it right. Some people on here have adjusted it themselves.

I agree with what is written above. Picked up my May 06 Cayman S in December. The OPC service people seemed to describe the need to put some sort of padding or filling in the box sections at the rear. As car came with Porsche warrenty, no issues with getting it fixed. End result is the main rattle has stopped. I am sure I still hear a distant rattle occasionally but it is not intrusive or an issue, just want to get on and enjoy the car. Regards Peter

HI I have a 2006 Cayman S fitted with the rear blind & this sometimes Rattles has your car got the blind fitted if so check the fitting points they may have become loss. Yours truly Kevin

Just to let you all know I took my Cayman back to the garage today. It turns out it was the o/s/r light cluster that was loose and rattling due to it not being fixed back in correctly after a bulb change. Thanks.
