Rattles

Got about 3 or 4 annoying rattles in the car, which apart from this is perfectly constructed in every way.
How good are the dealers at locating these? any experiences any of you could share with me?

Thanks guys.

Me too! 2005 2S with 8k on the clock. Vibration under dash rhs and a wierd buzz under the passenger seat - sometimes. Can't keep the revs high all the time so I too would be interested if OPCs can trace and cure.

baptist,

You are describing the standard rattles built in for free with every 997 !

Because they all do it Sir, the dealers have pleanty of knowledge on what to do to fix it.

Mine had a few of these niggles when new but now after 6000 miles they have all vanished and its as tight as a nut, strange.

The rattling dash RHS is probably the ignition key surround - mine was, had it replaced, sorted.

But there are other rattles from the seats mainly, plus my drivers seat creaks at the shoulder wings - used to drive me potty, but nearly 2 years on I don't really notice anymore.

Booked in to the dealers at Leeds, lending me a Cayman S as a courtesy car, giong to take about 3 days to locate/fix/ and get some confidence that they wont return.
Will report back on findings.

My 997 C2S has developed a few rattles since I purchased the vehicle 6 weeks ago, namely:

Rattle/ Creaking noise from Dashboard area, directly in front of driver
Rattle/ Creaking noise from Drivers door area, more probably near front speakers

Any help would be appreciated to enable me to go pre-armed with info, when visiting my OPC in the new year.

Thanks

OK, rattle from dashboard will probably be the ignition key surround. Mine did it, had it fixed (even though they marked the surround!) - job done.

Can't help with the door speaker I'm afraid, but my drivers sports seat used to drive me bonkers. It was the leather creaking against the hard rear shell. I once sprayed WD-40 everywhere the leather/shell met and cured it for about 1 month. Couldn't be bothered after that.

If it makes you feel any better, I am now in a Lotus Exige - RATTLES don't even start to describe it!!

Picked up my 997 just before Christmas, rattle from steering column area, so hope its the key surround. Taking back when they change my number plates. Have been turning up the stereo that cures it.

Cheers, I am enjoying the car unfortunately my education was not good enough to start and describe this car!
