Rattling Drivers side Airbag

Hi

Many thanks for the replies to my earlier post - re rear tyre wear - have replaced all four and watching my tyre pressures very carefully!

Got another problem now though!

My drivers side airbag has developed a really annoying rattle!

If I put pressure against it - it stops!

But I can't drive around like that all day!

Anyone else had a similiar problem? or found a way to fix it?

You might want to investigate by removing the door trim. The air bag is in a frame fixed to the door by 4 bolts - I guess one may be loose or the electrical connection to the bag is flapping about. Alternatively, it may be one of the bolts fixing the trim to the door (there's even one under the little 'airbag' cover that might be loose. Here's a link for removing the door trim:

p.s. don't mess with the membrane once the trim is off otherwise you might cause a leak []. And don't forget to disconnect the neg earth lead at the battery when doing this procedure.

Hi Steve, I have the same problem on both doors. Did you manage to rectify the noise?

Hi Grant

After reading the instructions - very kindly supplied by brksy16 - I decided to let my local independent loose on the problem. There seemed to be just too many plastic parts bit for me to break to attempt it myself!

They fixed the rattle - but at a price!

I just need the passenger door sorting out now!
