Rattling Exhaust Heat Shield

Hi all. I have a niggling rattling coming from rear of my 1998 3.4 C2 and looks to be the heat shields on either side above the exhausts. On inspection, the bolt holes have expanded and, hence, the shields are not being held in place any more. I have bent them around the inside of the bumper and that seemed ok on the offside, but the nearside has started rattling again and sounds just like a loose mud guard on a bicycle. Has anyone ever replaced these shields before, and if so, are they easy to do and how much are they? Do you have to drop the engine or are they just fastened to the inside of the bumper and by removing the bumper, are they accessable easily? Would it be easier to have them replaced at a OPC or is this too pricey? A lot of questions I know but the noise is now detracting from the lovely engine note I am used to.. Thanks in advance. John

I had mine 'fixed' on my Boxster with a couple of hose clips (also called Jubilee clips) by my local garage. Cheaper than replacing the heat shields by your OPC

Just found one of the rattles was a loose brake shield behind the rear nearside disc. Had to take it off as not being held on. Does anyone know if these are required. I understand that it stops any heat from braking getting to the brake pipes but can't see how they are fastened on. The exhaust shields are still loose though so looks like will have to remove rear bumper and have a closer look. John
