Re-attaing exterior door trim....

Bi,

The plastic exteriour door trim has been gradually coming away from the door, resulting in a collection of water and debris. Having cleaned it as much as I can, I'd like to re-attach it. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what product to use? I was thinking of using a small amount of silicon rubber; would this be safe?
