re-fixing Rearview mirror

vitesse

Active member
Just accidentally knocked the rearview mirror off the windscreen in my wife's 924S c/w mount.
Any one know the best way to re-fix-are spare "sticky " patches available before I go on a wild goose chase, please?

Since posting ,had a quick google & now going to get a windscreen mirror glue kit hopefully from ECP on my way down to get BMW re-coded.

The ONE time (fingers crossed) it happened to me, I just went to the nearest glass/auto windshield shop and they glued it back on for a small fee. They are experienced and do a clean job - I'm not sure its worth it to DIY as its not a skill you will need often :)

Just don’t use Superglue as it can crack the screen due to being an exothermic reaction.

Hi Colin. I had that happen last year. Local OPC couldn't get the sticky pad, I tried a 3M pad from Halfords which fell straight off, but they also sell Loctite AA319. It's an epoxy, but has the catalyst in a mesh. Online reviews mixed, but as ever cleanliness and degreasing of EVERYTHING is vital. It worked, and is still there. Worth looking on the Henkel web site for the data sheet.

Did you make it to Curborough this year?

Thanks for all suggestions guys-eventually after trying everyone I could think of,got the Loctite kit from an independant car factors in downtown Bootle -bit like going into one of those old fashioned ironmongers with things hanging up everywhere .
So thanks Graham-hardest part was cutting the circular button shape from the activated mesh neatly-the rest was easy having cleaned everything with methylated spirits.
It's still firmly stuck on 1 day later[:D].
I didn't get to Curborough in the end(sadly) as have Sorned the car & plan to refresh the front suspension & brakes (have all the parts including virtually new Sachs struts)-but need to strip them to get them shotblasted & powder coated & then fit the lowered Spax springs from the existing struts.i am also considering fitting new steel wishbones.
