Hi,[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]A friend of mine has a 3.2 carrera, and has the following question.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]The interior light was staying on after the door was closed, i have fitted a new switch but the problem remains the same. When i turn the lights off and then turn them on again they stay off till i again open the door. It is a really odd problem i suspect it could have a delay timer but have not located one.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Any ideas?[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

I recall having this problem on mine. By the way there is no delay timer or such like on a 3.2. The problem with mine was with the light itself (light is also the switch you notice). I simply removed both of them and put them back and hey presto is fixed the problem. Must have been a dodgy earth or something. Remember there are 3 positions off/on/door open. If this doesn't work then check the door switches near the door hinges they could be the root cause. The engine bay cover switch also turns the interior lights on so make sure the switch is 'making' with the engine cover closed. Hope this helps.

Also depending what alarm is fitted may be a cause. When I unlock the doors with the key fob the lights come on and will either turn off once the ignition is switch on or after a time delay.

Simple thing but check the light is clicked at the right setiing at the unit itself!!
Some people don't realise the lamp unit rocks between off, on and only on when door opens... :)

The aftermarket immobiliser system supplied by Porche Centres in the Nineties ( the one with the little pronged thingy you insert into a socket before starting) had an programable interior light delay function, which may now be faulty.
