RE: LED Fog light Upgrade

I want to upgrade the daytime running front fog lights to LED bulbs on my 2010 Gen 2 Cayman as the current bulbs are quite yellow and I want to make them more white.

Has anyone changed their bulbs, and if so what bulbs can you recommend?

I assume it is a straightforward bulb change?

Thanks,

Gary.

Hi Gary, I have used Autobulbs Direct which is online but I only got standard bulbs if the lights are showing yellow it could be that the earth side of the fitting is corroded and needs cleaning. They do LED's so take a look there.

I have removed your other entry of this from the Zunsport Group buy, no problem that it was there by accident we now have four on the list

Gary, this isn't a direct answer to your question but I offer it as it may help anyway.

I have recently upgraded the dipped beam in my 996 to HIDs which has given me a lovely improvement in both beam and "whiteness" of the light. I also upgraded my sidelights to white LEDs. This left me with full beam and fog lights to think about: I tried an LED kit on my fog lights to change the colour of the light to match dipped beam. I found that performance dropped off greatly: the answer would be another HID kit, as it would with full beam. I've taken a step back from both and will see how the dark winter nights influence my thinking: one issue with full beam is that HIDs may not "start" quickly enough for those headlamp flash moments.

Relevance to you? Well you refer to "daytime running front fog lights": I think LEDs would be fine as replacements for purely daytime running but you might not find LEDs powerful enough for fog light work.

How do I rate HID kit dipped beams? Well I no longer have to add fog lights simply to see what's ahead.
