re-map

any advise/experience out there of re-mapping the old 3.2...

I was trying to go for a remap by Wayne.. and was all set, but he's just stopped talking to me. [&o]
So I'm interested in peoples experiences/alternatives to Steve Wong's modchip and Wayne Schofields remap.

Thanks

I've often thought about it, but never done anything positive. A bespoke map by Wayne would obviously be the ideal, but most expensive option. The SW chip gets good write-ups, but I've seen this one at a fraction of the price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280365241110 . The guy has a fantastic feedback rating, and I've seen a few other positive forum posts around too.

All sorted now... Wayne got back in touch, and have a live re-map done today..

end up with 252bhp@6171rpm & 301Nm@5548rpm

Not too bad for the old plodder.

And cheaper than the professional paintwork polish I been quoted.

:)

results.
Any other mods to the engine or is it standard? How many miles has it done and has it ever had a rebuild? If standard, that is a result - can you feel the difference?
Thanks for posting.
Chris

Standard unmodified 3.2 engine, with Porsche Panel Air Filter etc & AirCon.
Only change is a modified twin outlet back box to suit the 964 turbo rear bumper.

Engine has had a top-end rebuild about 12k miles ago not due to wear, but because it had to come to bits as I snapped a head stud, so it would have been daft not to.

Oh.. one other remarkable thing.. is that this is all based on cheap standard ASDA Unleaded.

Thanks for that. Did Wayne give any indication as to what the result could be if you ran on super unleaded?

He's very hard to get hold of...

doesn't do voicemail or email...

Basically you have to txt him, describing what you are looking for etc... and he will txt you back at some point if he's got the time and is interested...

He can be a very busy man, in high demand with repeat customers - race teams etc....

The first time I actually spoke to him in person is when I arrived to get my car mapped.

I bought this chip off the shelf a few years ago.

Piece of cake to fit, takes five minutes. Tools required- a spoon and a pen knife.

Really improved low end power and raises the rev limiter.

Cant say for certain what the revised power output actually goes to but the car goes like stink.

Car runs best on 99ron Tesco or Shell V Power.

Thanks- I've had my 3.4 done by him before, however looking for a tweak after fitting headers and a planning a MAF.

I understand he no longer runs his own dyno - did you take the car to a dyno of his choice?

Wayne's currently working out of ninemeister, until get sets up is own shop again...
