Hi all I would like a bit of advice ive a Cayman S 2006 90000 full service had a terror clean last year has a free flow exhaust on im thinking now of having a remap has any one had theres done what gains am I looking at the firm who im thinking of doing it is Zentrum at Calverton thanks for any advice Mark
 
No point unless you change the TB and plenum as you need to get more air in.

a map will gain you 5bhp lol. You gained 10bhp already if you switched out the back box for a sporty exhaust as that deletes 2 cats. With a map and the TB you can go to 345bhp.

As D says, on an non-turbo car there's very little power and torque gain from a remap alone. However, you'll probably get an improved throttle response and, perhaps, slightly better fuel consumption.

As been said for what it costs tiny gains in bhp which you won't even notice on a N/A engine.not worth it really.

 
BHP gains on a N/A motor can be limited, but the headline BHP gain isn't the full story. A carefully executed remap can iron out a lot of the compromises manufacturers have to make to meet noise, economy, emission and other legislation, improving drivability and a noticeable boost on the seat of the pants dyno. Zensport in Essex can chat with you about what you're looking for, tailor the job accordingly and, I believe he offers a no quibble return to standard guarantee if you're not delighted with the results.

I agree but he has already deleted 2 of the 4 cats with a new rear system which helps the dips and torque, a remap imo is not worth the hassle or cost unless you give the car more air in.

been there done it on my 2005 car but just best to do it all, the little bits don't add up , doing it all does, more air in. more air out and a remap to tie in all in.

I agreed with David.

The remap on it's own on your 2006 Cayman S will only provide a negligible effect on performance. A remap on your normally aspirated CS will remove the "emissions throttle lag" between 2000 and 4000rpm of the standard CS map. This will smooth out the drivability of your car, but that's about all you can expect.

To gain the maximum advantage of a remap, a larger throttle body and plenum, plus a performance exhaust and cotton air filter element, is the way to go as Mr D has already suggested.

Also bear in mind, tyres, brakes, and suspension mods will be next on your agenda.

It's up to you to decide.

Echoing what's already been said, I have a cat-back exhaust on my 07 CS. I had a remap done when the car was in at Zentrum a while back but my motivation was to tune out the torque dip at 3500 rpm, not to add power. Fuel economy is generally worse, although current tyre choice and a few other mods probably aren't helping either. Given what I was spending at the time it didn't add much...

 
Hi all and thank you all for the advice you have given me on this issue I think reading all comments im not going to do it the for what its going to cost and the little gain ill make im better off giving the money to the wife to spend that will get me lots of brownie points thanks again all Mark
