Hi everyone just getting used to my 2002 996 turbo mike at zentrum just taken it away today to have some worn suspension parts replaced and suspension set up! My nav unit is a bit on the old side is there an upgrade to show a map of where your going instead of just voice direction;0(

pcm 2 is still very poor. There are some slightly newer discs around but even then you don't get full postcode entry.
Have a look on 911.com as there are threads about double din replacement options.

Robert!

Unless it is post-September 2002, it will be PCM1. On that version, you can update the system to run later Vauxhall-Opel maps, after a software update.

To get the map screen, press the map button.

Yes I think it is pcm1 as car was registered 4th month (April) 2002 il have a look in relevant forums and posts mentioned. Thanks guys;0)

I have the full PCM2 system in my 2004 car and it's still rubbish. Never use it and for the odd occasion I need satnav, use a £95 TomTom purchased 4 years ago. Its way less frustrating to have a wire dangling to the lighter socket than it is to wait for the steam pressure to get up on the installed system.

Richard - is the PCM1 software update you mentioned Porsche supplied and is it a return to Porsche for it to be done?

Thanks

This post explains it a bit more: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/fb.asp?m=564575

Being a 2000 car, you probably have the 8-bit navigation drive.
