A little bit of advise please if anyone can help.On my 2002 996 Turbo having some trouble with the satnav, display shows the map sometimes but most of the time just comes up with initialising,or cannot read cd,all the other funtions on the display work perfect radio ac etc. Could it be the cd.unit itself if so is it worth getting repaired or the disc is faulty.Any advise or comments would be great.
Kind regards Brian

If you're local to Hounslow, middx you're welcome to try my satnav disc si see if that's the issue. Roy

Repair or replacement of the PCM would be uneconomical. Might make better sense to fit a new, third-party double-DIN unit that would give you the like of Bluetooth, USB, iPhone integration etc. Unless you're dead set on keeping the car original of course.

Brian, I'm assuming you have PCM2.0, whereas Peter will have PCM2.1. They use different map disks, which aren't compatible.

Thanks Richard according to the disc it has pcm1 written on it,but as i said in the posting it works sometimes then just goes off then either disc error comes up wrong disc or most of the time initialising all other functions work fine it is only the satnav that is up the creek,so it may be either disc or the disc drive

If it is PCM1 (cassette player at the top) then I might be able to help. Check the Navigation Drive Version. Press the AC button, and then the lower right hand knob to display the version screen. Check the number which starts PONAxxxx. Drop me an emai with the number, and I'll see what I can do.

Yes Richard it does have the cassette player at the top will be in touch with you with the number.
Many thanks Brian

Just how does Richard have this fountain of knowledge!! I am truly amazed the level of help he continues to give.

I wish he would buy a 997!!!!! [:D][:D][:D]
