Re Service Intervals

Hi All, wanted to ask for some advice. I have a 991.1 GTS which I purchased last year. The car was registered January 2016 and I had understood was on a 2 year service interval, although I now have a message flick up that says interim service due in 28 days. The car has 12k miles and used on weekends, with no track days so not really hard use.

Any ideas?
 
It's only 3 months early so it might be because of the use the car has had since new. I bet some shorter journeys somewhere along the line are responsible. If it was me I'd have changed the oil and filter after the first 2-3k miles anyway. I wouldn't be too concerned - just book it in asap and get the service done and ask the OPC if the computer data shows why it's early.
 
Probably a gap between prepping the car (PDI) and registering. Might have been sitting in a showroom.
 
Usually this is just a result of the dealer not setting the service interval display correctly before the car was delivered. Just get your OPC to reset it, you don't need a service until January 18.
 
Thanks gents sounds from the dealer as though it had its pre delivery inspection during September 2015 despite being registered in jan the following year.

ive booked it in to get it done ÂŁ600 for intermediate and brake fluid change sounds about right.

My wife's previous BMWs bought new, out of the showroom, had came with a service interval of 2 yrs or 20k miles. All very nice until the service light came on after 18 months and 12k miles.

BMW said "... oh its not the day the car was registered sir, despite 0 miles, its 2 years from the date it was manufactured.."

Most people would have thought that the 2 year service would be from the date of purchase. We felt we had been mislead and said so.

Basically if your new BMW (and many others I except) are laid up in field waiting delivery the service clock is ticking away.
 
I had the same experience with my 981 Cayman S. It's 2 year service notification came in in May this year even though it was registered in September 2015. I was told that the pdi was conducted in May and the 2 years counted from then. If not sitting in a field, it must have been sitting in the rear car park at OPC Reading for a few months waiting for someone to buy it. Quite sad really thinking of such a lovely car sitting, waiting and wondering why nobody wanted it ... sob, sob. What a stupid old romantic I am!

How does this relate to warranty period, does yours expire in May or September 2015?

I'm sure all warranty's of new cars will start on the date of registration, for used cars it will be the date of purchase.
 
Hi

Slightly off thread but my car is due to have warranty extended at the end of September. I received a letter from Porsche HQ reminding me and stating that a 111-point vehicle condition is required " which may be charged for) .... The car will be 5 years old and I took out a 2 year warranty 2 years ago. I have been with the Hatfield OPC for over 30 years and have bought several 911s from them including this one. It needs its MOT which I am naturally happy to pay for but there should be no problems with my current car unless they are warranty issues. It has done only 18k miles in total. The service advisor said she would speak to the service manager and get back to me about the 111 charge. Does anybody have any experinec of OPC waving this charge?
 
My PC waives the charge for the 111 point check if done alongside the 2 year service. A good reason to take out a 2 year extended warranty as it is a double saving.

My PC refused to waive the charge.....
 
Warranty extension due at the end of September along with MOT. My OPC informs me that they cannot waive the charge but have agreed to waive charge for the MOT as some compensation.

Well it was 18 months ago so maybe times (and policy) have changed. Will find out next March!
 
You can get a PCGB discount off the 111 point check.Charge may apply is misleading as the three OPC I rang all charge.
 
And Gareth, it's great to read that you're racking up the miles on your Porsche by enjoying it as it should be. I was looking at a few classifieds earlier on today and saw several RSs and Rs that had covered fewer than 1k miles, despite being a year or two old. It saddens me to see such wonderful cars being used simply as investments.

Re 111 point check charge - I emailed my PC today and they confirmed there would be no charge for this next Feb when mine has it's 8 year service and MOT. [:)]
