Re-spray front PU? or live with those damn stone chips?

After a lot of time out of the UK I'm finally coming around to the idea of selling my C2S - but after getting down on my hands and knees to inspect the front end, I'm thinking that maybe it could do with a lick of paint to cover more than its fair share of stone chips.
(I guess wide-bodied 993s are particualrly suspectible, as I don't remember my BoxsterS being anything near as bad)

She needs an OPC service anyway, but would it be wise to extend this to cover a pampering of the front end - or will additonal paint only put people off ... maybe giving the impression that something more sinister has been covered up?

Personally I buy alot of cars and would rather know what needs to be painted rather than try and figure out why something has been painted. Trouble is not everyone has my keen eye so not everyone would suspect the car may have been painted.

If the job is done properly and you have the bodyshop put on the final invoice that respray was due solely to wear and tear and not accident damage then that should cover you.

It shows that you have cared for the car and its appearance and it could be the difference between a sale or somebody walking away.

It is not uncommon to have the front pu repainted. In fact, when repainting the front pu, the coachworks, if it is doing the job properly, will remove it completely, repaint and refit. There will be no overspray on any rubbers and if they have colourmatched it well, it will blend in giving a much better appearance that a heavily pitted pu which would otherwise give any intended purchaser the view that it has been driven hard, at high speeds and even tracked!. Of course if the bonnet is heavily chipped you should also repaint this. Quality is important and if it's done well the vehicle will sell easily and more quickly. TRUST ME, I know.
 
I've decided not to bother - a front PU respray will cost around £500 all in - and i'm just not sure its worth it, when 5 minutes with a touch-in pen followed by a good polish will acheive similar results.

Mine was done several years ago and now looks dreadful - whoever did it never got the colour quite right so now I'm going to bite the bullet and have the whole front end done - hopefully in the right colour this time
 
I think you'll find the OPC would factor in the repaint of a chipped PU in the trade in value of any used Porsche - they were very open about saying so to me when giving me a laughable price for my Boxster. About a week later some b*****d reversed into the PU and did a runner without leaving a note so I had to get it repainted anyway - by the OPC. The effect was amazing - made the car look like new and no colour match problems at all (Lapis Blue).
