Reading OPC - Setting the Record Straight

Got a call this afternoon from the sales manager at Porsche Centre Reading about my disappointment over the collection of my car last Saturday (here's what I said in the thread "Where's My Car"):

Overall, I was disappointed with the collection process - it didn't feel like the special event it should have been. This is my 1st brand new Porcshe and to me cost a heck of a lot of money but salesman showed little interest or rapport. His attitude seemed to be give me the money and bu88er off as quickly as possible. Having said that I shouldn't be surprised, as the dealership has exactly been forthcoming throughout the whole buying process (whereas Porsche GB customer service were very good).

Full credit to her for following this up and for sending flowers to my wife. I think we now both understand each other's position, have reached an agreement and can put the matter behind us.

The interesting thing is that she picked up my comments not from and e-mail, letter or phone call but from this forum! Now I wouldn't suggest that all OPC sales managers are monitoring the forum for any comments about their centres; apparently, there is a club member who works at Reading OPC who picked up on this. But what it does show is that you never know who will see what you post. I wouldn't suggest that we shouldn't be critical of OPC's where we fell this is justified but to avoid any potential accusations of defamation, I for one will be very careful of my choice of words in any such future posts.

I was disappointed to read about Reading as they are my local OPC and so far, all of my experiences have been very positive. I won't name the staff I have dealt with as it would be unfair to have members ask for individuals by name however I'm pleased with the people I have dealt with so far. Earlier in the week, they had what I can only describe as an exotic bi-turbo hybrid sitting in the corner of the showroom. Awesome !

I think that you have all been spoilt.
I purchased a new Boxster S from Nottingham. Not only did I have to pay for mats, I had to fit them myself after they were just handed to me.
The last time I had flowers from a dealer was when I purchased a £10,000 Rover.
Recently I traveled the 400 miles for £1400 worth of service and tyres. When they wanted to retain my car for a further day, the service manager offered to give me directions to the train station or show me where I could hire a car.

God Paul, that's terrible!!![>:][>:]

I've always found my local OPC (Colchester) to be fabulous! They only ever loaned me one shonky car (actually it was appauling with a list of problems as long as your arm) and I made a point of writing them an objective letter listing just how dangerous (and it was dangerous) they car they had loaned me was.

They phoned me back and couldn't have been more apologetic - even loaned me a C2 for Eynsham Hall last year.

As has already been said, the persons working within the dealership are only human and can't be on top of their game all the time but the very least i'd expect is a loan car when my car's in longer for one day.

Paul, perhaps its time you got cracking with an 'objective' letter to your OPC.
