Real value of 996 TT

Hi everyone,
I need a car to do about 12,000 miles a year and it comes down to this: I can get a new 997/997S or a nice 996 TT for the same amount of money. One is the new model, the other will be changed in 6 months. I've seen nice 996TTs for high 40s which is really tempting also. What do you think on 1) choice of car 2) resale value of 996TTs in 2 to 3 years? How big is the delta between 2001/2002/2003/2004/2005 cars?
TIA

With the TT there is hardly any difference between the first and last model years. As previously mentioned the X50 or Turbo S (Basically the same) would be the preferred choice because they have strengthened conrods, slightly stronger gearbox (additional cooling) and I believe K24 turbos (GT2) which offers a moderate increase in BHP to the standard TT, but perhaps more importantly gives a good foundation to take the engine up to a max of 700BHP without fear of any internal damage, whereas I have reached about the limit at 550-600BHP with the stock interals
