Realigning Window

Guest

New member
Whilst enjoying the weather on Friday a friend of mine managed to have the window misalign when trying to close it, and subsequently it has fallen completely out of the guides and down into the door. Therefore, I'll be following the instructions at Clark's Garage tomorrow to remove the door panel and put it right.

I'm wondering if anyone has any words of warning or advice before I attempt the job? The most I've done on the S2 so far is to tweak the hatch lock and top her up with oil, so I'm a little apprehensive :).

Thanks,

Matthew

The 944 door being the same as a 924 to all intents and purposes, what I did was to cut two wedges from wood, to wedge the window about half way as I found this the best position to get the roller back in the runner.

on the same kind of thread topic, what is best to be done with a wondow that is very slow going up and down - almost seems to stick in the middle of the motion then speeds up again ?

is it maybe the motor on its way out ?

cheers

I've got the panel off, and have found the problem. The roller has seperated from the nipple on the metal arm - it's a very tight fit and I'm unable to push it back in with the tools i've tried so far. I'm suprised it popped out in the first place.

Any ideas at this stage will be greatly appreciated :).

Try silicone spray. Failing that take the motor out an clean the inside; apparently they get jammed with bits that wear off the mechanism.

Matthew - I think you need to take it right out so you can get at with a big hammer.

Matthew,

I'm not familiar with the exact details of the assembly but can you get some thing like a G clamp on there? Should do the trick if you can.

Thanks chaps, it's sorted now. By removing the motor retaining screws and moving it around I was able to get a big pair of grips on it to push the roller back on.
