Really dumb question re heater.

Could somebody let me know the function of the two sliders on the heating system I dont have a 944S2 manual and they will only blow cold with both sliders over to the left and the climate control turned down. I have played about with them in various different combinations to try and figure it out but to no avail.
Am I being an idiot or is the guy in the garage full of s%*t! in claiming theres nothing wrong with it.

According to my manual the top slider directs air to the windscreen and the bottom slider directs air to the footwell.Left is closed - right is open.

All starting to make sense now. The guy at the garage told me it only blows cold when both sliders are over to the left (closed!).

And don't forget the vertical slider between the central facia vents. This directs air flow to the windscreen or facia vents.The "cold air only" is probably due to broken plastic clips on the actuating rods for the heater box beneath the dashboard, or might be a blocked or faulty cabin temperature sensor.

As Cabby says the bottom one controls the amount of air sent to the footwell, the upper the amount sent to the top of the dash. As Kevin says the vertical slider between the central vents controls how much of the "upper" air goes to the screen and how much to the dsh vents.. Temperature is totally independent of the sliders.
