Really want to use my Ipod

Hi all
I'm now very fed up of not having the option of connecting an Ipod
I love my 911 C2S but why is it proving so tough for me to find someone to fit a simple device to allow me to connect my Ipod
All I want is the music, I am more than happy with having to have another SIM card for the phone element of the PCM so am not even looking for Bluetooth.
I love my car but when your mates are driving cars that have bluetooth/music/voice command as standard I find it annoying!
I appreciate my car is an 07 and the PCM is very dated but how can it be so difficult to source a cable that we can just plug in and provide an aux in?

I'm so annoyed I am thinking about bining the PCM and looking for an aftermarket head unit that will provide everything I need...can anyone recommend a new head unit that will give ipod, touch screen and bluetooth phone?

I don't have a warranty so am not worried about that
cheers
Rich

Yes -but it's in a Gen 2 car and called PCM 3 [;)]
There's your answer - change the car! You know it makes sense. I don't know of anyone that has ripped out the PCM 2.1 and put something else in it's place. I think there are other functions which are not phone or music releate they are controlled via the PCM.

I have seen on a US forum that someone has successfully replaced the PCM with one of these

There are options but none are cheap. Pioneer unit now available which is fully MOST/Bose/etc. compatible.

Loads of double din options out there, just none that are particularly cheap. You can easy spend the same amount on the fascia and cabling as you can on the head unit!

I quite like Alpine stuff in terms of audio quality, but Pioneer do better looking and more functional units these days.

thanks all
so still no simple solution then
these do look good though so I'll be investigating further

it depends if you have BOSE or not?

Without Bose
Option 1 - new HU, all you lose is the nav and audio display in the gauge cluster.
Option 2 - Porsche do an official add on for PCM 2.1 it a hardwired FM modulator so not great and at £400 pretty expensive, however it is official and won't void warranty
Option 3 - Dension 500 or Mobridge will allow you to use teh CD changer input to connect your IPOD. Each dummy Disc slot (1-6) is used to represent a playlist criteria, i.e Artist, Albums, Genre e.t.c. Its clunky and slow but gets the job done.

With Bose all of the above still apply however if your changing the HU as per option 1 its a lot more involved as you need to interface to the BOSE Amp. It uses the MOST Optical system and a box to do that is circa £500. Alternatively replace the bose speakers, Amps and the whole shebang

tried one of those and not very impressed with the quality, a hard wired modulator would be the only FM solution I would consider

I don't think the Pioneer unit has a MOST input Geoff. I think they must use the NAV-TV MOST-HUR interface, especially as they say that any head unit can be used, within reason.
