Really?

When I ordered my 992, like most of us, I took plenty of time examining the plethora of options available for my C2S. I quite enjoyed the process, and above all, I was delighted that my wife insisted that we had the additional side skirts fitted.

We had carefully ticked all the boxes that would make this a special car, and the first 911, I had ordered from new. Or so I thought!

Just one small tick I had overlooked to do was for the ‘aluminium’ look fuel filler cap.

No worries I thought, as I had bought one for my Cayman 981 when it was a couple of years old, so I thought there would be no problem getting one retrospectively for the 992. How wrong I was.

Apparently, despite the model being two years into production, they are only supplied with a new car.

How ridiculous is that?

Peter,
It's available as a Tequipment accessory Part No. 000 044 001 91.
It's showing as common to all 991 models, so I guess you need to find someone with a 991 and see if the cap fits (if you'll forgive the pun! [:D])

Regards,

Clive

Thanks chaps but but the 991 fuel cap is different to the 992.

I have the OPC looking at my options. I’ll let you know when I get an answer.

I was just poking through Rennlist forum and according to at least one person on 992 forum, the fuel cap for 991 fits 992 as well. There is also a US Porsche accessories site that states "Also confirmed by 992 911 (2020+) owner's to fit!!". (https://www.getporscheparts.com/oem-parts/porsche-aluminum-look-fuel-filler-cap-911-boxster-cayman-panamera-macan-2012-00004400191?c=bD0xJm49Q2F0ZWdvcnkgUGFnZQ%3D%3D)

Personally, I'd buy one to check it out and return it if it does not fit; might cost a couple of quid in return postage but if it is something you really want, got to be worth a try. Unless of course the one for 992 looks different?

OPC Bolton told me that the 991 and 992 are different.
I had an aluminium one on my 981 Cayman and this one is a completely different design.
They got in touch with Germany and I have now received it.

Peter - does your new Aluminium cap have a part number on it or the box. It looks the same as that fitted to latest Panamera/Macan - part: 971 044 251

The part number on the invoice is: 971044251. There are no prefixes to that.

It comes under 'Porsche Tequipment Exclusive Design fuel filler cap'.

Bizarrely, the cap does not appear under Tequipment for 992 on UK site, but does appear on Tequipment sites in various EU countries. It is the same as can be fitted to later Panameras/Macans etc. I am guessing they have not updated all country specific sites.

Should any 992 owner be tempted, it is available online from a couple of sources, including 9-Apart for £129. Obviously can order through OPC as well. (https://www.ebay.co.uk/it...30:g:03YAAOSwA0NgCvR7)

Great information Mike, my birthday is in March, so will ask the wife to get me that ??

Mike,

If you look under Exterior on the 992 Configurator it’s listed as Exclusive Design Fuel Filler Cap priced £93. I suspect that it would be cheaper from a dealer with your 10% Club discount.

Jeff

Price from OPC is £114.49 before club discount should anyone be tempted. I’m adding to my birthday list.
