Realy ????

So who's going to post the first question then?

At ÂŁ500 it would be difficult to make money splitting the car once you factor in collection and ultimate disposal costs.

Black velour interior (mmm..nice) so not worth much at all then.

Tele dial wheels - every bodies favourites - worth less than not much unless you have a VW [8|]

The best option might be to get a old Golf and swap all the swappable bits off the wrecked Lux.

Doesn't add up whichever way you look. Must have cost a fortune to have a one-off built in 1998, and then back-date it with a set of teledials [:D] [:D]

Lovely

Phil

I just don't get it.

Even if it was off the road and not registered until 1998, 180k in 7 years is a hell of a lot of miles.

It's not even as if it's a typo of a 1988 car as he specifies r-reg (and it looks like an old bumper style so that pre-87?)!? either that or it's on an old R-plate for some reason.

Really (or realy) wierd.

The 944 was not available in 1976 when the old R reg was issued, the 924 had only just been launched.

No, but you can fit an older "personalised" plate. I would have thought that if it was anything vaguely clever, he'd sell it seperately though.

You would think that he might have tried some gentle straightening out, removed the damaged light surround and shown some pictures of the better features of the car. Some people don't deserve to sell stuff.

Does e-bay have some method of reporting misrepresentation as this must be a prime case?

Looking through some of the gentleman's previous transactions it would appear that he is a car breaker who repairs cars and resells them.

He recently sold a Vauxhall Aguila (?) which he repaired and re registered so I guess it is possible that this car was written off and then re registered in '98. Just the sort of car you want to be putting a bid on then [].

Meester Sims, we are going to be doing "pistols at dawn".

If you attend the pre-arranged meetings....

Some of us LOVE the teledial-look, and have tried to up-grade to the 16" option. Only problem is the difference in perceived value between Phil R and SWMBO.....

Paul McNulty - back with a vengance and a fixed handbrake for now....

I have to say the 220 Turbo 16" teledials with a decent dish look cool. The 15" ones where the centre projects beyond the wheel rim are rank.

Hi Paul,

My comments were worthwhile if only to flush you out of the bushes. [:D]

I'm glad that you have sorted your hand brake problems at last and am very disappointed that I missed out on the Reading meet.

Still, back to the thread.

While teledials have a obvious period appeal, the main problem with them is that they are very plentiful and thus not easy to sell at a good price. I myself have a set of the nastiest wheels ever bolted to a '44 being the flat 928 forged jobbies. They might be light but offer next to no air flow for the brakes. And, just to heighten their appeal further, a previous owner had them mirror polished [:'(].

I'd have thought mirror-polished flat face wheels would do well in the VW modified arena if you placed an ad there. They're far too wide for a Golf which should mean only the ones with the most money to spunk on their car would want them.

....... only the ones with the most money to spunk on their car would want them.

Such a delicate turn of phrase :ROFLMAO:

Graeme,

I think Silver Roses had forged D90 type wheels. The 928 style wheels were an option on 220 Turbos as they thought they looked better than teledials ......NOT!

John,
I thought the polished alloys were the original fitment on the Silver Rose & other early 250 Turbos.

They were anodized alloy originally, some have polished them (lots in the states) I have polished one of my trackwheels but I wouldn't want it anywhere near salt.
